The Alberta government has announced that starting March 01, most restrictions will be lifted. Earlier, the mandatory vaccination passports have already been discontinued. So, we asked our readers how they feel about the looming Stage 2 of the planned reopening of the province.

“It is way too soon, although it seems that this is what the Alberta government’s unfortunate if not ridiculous option to put some order for those who are anti-mandates. But they could have done it in a way that will strike a balance between those who are still not comfortable with lifting the restrictions and those who are willing to take the risks. The vaccine passport, which has been a big concern for the unvaccinated and some business establishments, could probably be lifted, but wearing masks should be an option and not totally taken off.” – Connie, Calgary

“Removing restrictions is a little early, but it was bound to happen, so that’s fine. But expected at the very least to keep masking in place. It’s the easiest of all COVID measures to maintain, and people are already used to it now.” – Catherine, Calgary

“There is just so much uncertainty in what is going to happen after the restrictions are lifted. I think the government’s priority should be the people’s health. Although we do understand that the pandemic has impacted the economy and a lot of our lives, we still need to make sure public health is protected. We should look at the numbers closely before the government makes drastic decisions.” – Tatiana, Calgary

“Finally! It is about time for the government to reopen not just the province but the country. A lot of different nations have been working hard in reopening and bringing the life of their citizens back to normal. People are tired of uncertainty. The not knowing where to get your next paycheck.” – Michael, Calgary
