Four pandas from China on loan to the Calgary Zoo made their debut May 7.
Their $14.4 million habitat was built over two years with funding from the City of Calgary and the Province. The panda visit is part of a 10-year breeding agreement between Canada and China. They have already lived at the Toronto Zoo for five years, where their cubs were born.
The adult pandas, Er Shun and Da Mao, will remain in Calgary for five years. Cubs, Jia Panpan and Jia Yueyue, will be at the Calgary Zoo for 18 months and then will return to China.
